Work out availability, performance, quality and overall equipment effectiveness for any machine or line in under a minute.

OEE = Availability x Performance x Quality. Availability is run time divided by planned production time. Performance is (ideal cycle time x total parts) divided by run time. Quality is good parts divided by total parts.
Worked example: 480 minutes planned and 60 minutes of downtime gives 420 minutes run time, so availability is 87.5%. At a 30 second ideal cycle, 700 parts equals 350 minutes of ideal production in 420 minutes, so performance is 83.3%. With 21 defects, quality is 97.0%. OEE is 87.5% x 83.3% x 97.0% = 70.7%.
The result is only as good as the data. Downtime reasons logged by hand for a few shifts are more useful than a precise number from a wrong cycle time. For a full baseline across your lines, see our OEE assessment.
85% is often quoted as world class. Many factories run well below that. A useful target is steady improvement on your own baseline, starting with the biggest loss on the constraint machine.
The time the machine was scheduled to run, excluding breaks and any stops you have deliberately chosen not to count as losses. Be consistent so results compare over time.
The fastest time per part the process was designed for, not the average you currently achieve.
Yes. Start with manual capture of stops and counts for a few shifts. See manufacturing digitalisation when you are ready to automate it.
An OEE assessment ranks your losses in hours and pounds and shows what to fix first.
